Woodland burial

Michael’s Wood is a wonderful old wood located within the rural parish of Cholderton, a small village on the Hampshire Wiltshire borders. It is in the middle of a beautiful, family owned, organically farmed Estate and surrounded by unspoilt countryside. The 1987 hurricane severely depleted the centre of this wood but left the fringes intact. When it had been cleared of fallen trees and landscaped the central area presented a beautiful tranquil environment. It seemed a natural extension of the estate’s commitment to conservation to devote the area to a woodland burial site.

Michael’s Wood is owned and managed by the Cholderton Estate with assistance from the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust who receive a donation from every burial. A representative of the Wildlife Trust sits on the management board of Michael’s Wood.
